CS promotes support for DC election

With only 11 days left before the District Council (DC) election, Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki and Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung today visited the Queensway Government Offices to promote the election to colleagues and urge them to vote with family and friends on December 10.   Also joining the visit were representatives from the four civil service central consultative councils and the four major service-wide staff unions.   Mr Chan said civil servants are determined to organise a decent DC election and have encouraged colleagues to vote together with friends and relatives, so as to discharge their civic responsibility as well as support and accomodate the Government's governance.   “I have visited and talked to colleagues from various government departments in the hope of continuing to widely disseminate the important message of supporting the DC election and voting together among civil servants,” he added.   The DC geographical constituencies, inform

Police hold passing-out parade

Standing Committee on Disciplined Services Salaries & Conditions of Service Chairman Chui Hong-sheung today inspected the passing-out parade for 36 probationary inspectors and 121 recruit constables at the Police College.      Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Chui said Police have contributed significantly to the stability and prosperity of society since its establishment.   In the past year, apart from combatting crimes, the force also spared no effort in supporting the Government in the fight against the epidemic, such as implementing quarantine orders and carrying out contact tracing work on confirmed COVID-19 cases.   Mr Chui noted that Police’s work is diverse and complex. Over the years, political, legal and social changes have broadened the scope and increased the complexity of policing work, and have impacted the working environment of the force.   He said the standing committee is now conducting a Grade Structure Review for the Disciplined Services Grades. It will consider all relevant information and balance all factors to come up with a recommendation that will be conducive to the sustained development of the force and other disciplined services, and at the same time, benefit the whole community.   He encouraged all graduates to keep up with their professionalism, hold tight to their beliefs, and carry out their duties in a fair and impartial manner, whatever the circumstances, while serving the community.
