Hands-on approach to mental illness

With the aim of combatting the fear and misconceptions surrounding mental illness, Castle Peak Hospital’s Mind Space museum enables visitors to experience hallucinations, similar to the sensory experiences mentally ill patients encounter, by way of rooms that utilise virtual reality (VR) technology.   A group of secondary students recently embarked on a journey through Mind Space after registering and receiving patient wristbands. $150m in scholarships awarded

The Government Scholarship Fund (GSF) and the Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund (SPEF) have handed out scholarships and awards to some 5,500 students in the 2020-21 academic year, totalling about $150 million.   About 460 students with special educational needs were given the Endeavour Merit Award and the Endeavour Scholarship under the two funds. In addition, the GSF has reserved about $40 million for the Talent Development Scholarship and the Reaching Out Award.   Congratulating the awardees, Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung encouraged them to pursue a diversified development and hoped that the scholarships and awards give them recognition for their outstanding performances.   Mr Yeung noted that while the pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges worldwide, it is exceptionally commendable many students have overcome the obstacles with significant achievements in various areas.   About 1,300 local students and 600 non-locals were presented scholarships and awards under the GSF. In terms of the SPEF, about 3,400 local and about 200 non-local students were scholarship and award recipients.
