Hands-on approach to mental illness

With the aim of combatting the fear and misconceptions surrounding mental illness, Castle Peak Hospital’s Mind Space museum enables visitors to experience hallucinations, similar to the sensory experiences mentally ill patients encounter, by way of rooms that utilise virtual reality (VR) technology.   A group of secondary students recently embarked on a journey through Mind Space after registering and receiving patient wristbands. This unique mental health experience museum provided them with a comprehensive understanding of the development of psychiatric services in Hong Kong.   Displays in the museum showcase intriguing relics, including the evolution of restraints and handwritten patient records. P1 applications to open

Primary One Admission System application forms will be available from September 2 to 27, the Education Bureau announced today.   Children born on or before December 31, 2016, are eligible to join the system, except those who have attended primary schools and have been allocated a Primary 1 place.   The forms, explanatory notes and information leaflets are available at kindergartens, district offices and the bureau’s Regional Education Offices and School Places Allocation Section.    At the discretionary places admission stage, parents can choose schools without being restricted to the school net in which the child resides.   The completed application form, together with all supporting documents, should be submitted directly to a government or aided primary school of the parents’ choice between September 20 and 27.   Only one application should be submitted for each child. If parents are found to have applied to more than one government or aided primary school, their application will be rendered void.   If parents only apply for the Primary One Admission Central Allocation, they can return the completed application forms with supporting documents from September 20 to January 21 to the bureau’s School Places Allocation Section at Office 2, 2/F Manulife Financial Centre, Kwun Tong.   From September 2, people can call 2891 0088 or click here for more information.   Meanwhile, the Committee on Home-School Co-operation will upload the Primary School Profiles 2021 e-version in Chinese and English to its website on September 2 to help parents choose schools for their children.
