HK marathon gets 'M' Mark

The Major Sports Events Committee today announced that it has awarded the "M" Mark status to the 25th Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon to be held on February 12.   The committee's Chairman Wilfred Ng said the event will add colour and vibrancy to Hong Kong, like all other "M" Mark events.   “The 'M' Mark events showcase Hong Kong's capability to host world-class events and enhance Hong Kong's position as a centre for major international sports activities.   “These events also allow the general public to enjoy and participate in high-level competitions and nurture a sustainable sporting culture in the community,” he added.   Launched in 2004, the "M" Mark system aims to help local national sports associations organise more major international sports events and nurture them into sustainable undertakings. http://dlvr.it/Sj0HBF

7.96m jab doses given

About 7,967,500 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public, with about 4,284,900 people receiving their first dose and around 3,682,600 getting their second dose.   Among those given the first dose of vaccines, about 1,558,900 people have received the Sinovac jab and about 2,726,000 people got the BioNTech one.   For the second dose, about 1,363,100 people have received the Sinovac vaccine, while about 2,319,500 people have been administered the BioNTech jab.   About 39,900 people received jabs under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme today.   Around 4,400 people received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine and around 9,200 people received their second dose.   For the BioNTech vaccine, about 7,700 people received their first dose and around 18,700 people got their second dose.   The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine at community vaccination centres is about 97%, while it is about 96% for the BioNTech one.   As of 8pm, about 1,400 people booked their first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine online, while about 6,600 reserved their first and second doses of the BioNTech jab.   As of midnight, nine people were sent to hospitals.
