4 arrested for disorderly conduct

Police arrested four people after noticing that some individuals were displaying protest items that contained seditious wordings, chanting and committing unlawful acts in the vicinity of Causeway Bay since the afternoon of June 3.   Police announced the arrests in a statement and explained that upon investigation, they arrested the four individuals on suspicion of disorder in public places and doing an act or acts with seditious intention.   Additionally, four other people suspected of breaching public peace were brought to the police station for further investigation.   The force stressed that they are highly concerned about people attempting to incite and provoke others to commit illegal acts that endanger national security, public order and public safety.   Apart from stepping up patrols and enhancing intelligence-gathering, Police added that they will closely monitor the situation of various districts and strive to prevent and combat crimes. http://dlvr.it/Sq8xNR

More quarantine units for helpers set

The Government today announced that starting October 4, the booking system for Penny's Bay Quarantine Centre will reopen for the quarantine of foreign domestic helpers (FDHs) coming to work in Hong Kong.   An additional 200 units at the quarantine centre will be provided starting October 22, making it a total of 1,000 units available for helpers to undergo quarantine.   Starting from 9am on October 4, employers and employment agencies may apply for a room reservation through the booking system on the Labour Department's FDH Portal.   The booking system will display the rooms available for booking from October 22 to 28. Rooms available for reservation in the next round will be displayed on the booking system at 9am every Monday.   In order to arrange for helpers to come to Hong Kong in a gradual and orderly manner while guarding against imported COVID-19 cases, the quarantine centre will continue to receive at most 50 helpers every day, the Government said.   The department will process the applications in the order of submission of applications and acknowledge receipt of the application within one or two days.   The applicant should provide a copy of the helper's passport, a valid employment visa and a recognised vaccination record.   After verifying the relevant documents, a demand note will be issued to the applicant for settling payment. A payment receipt should be produced within the specified period of time. The booking process will be completed upon issuance of a booking confirmation by the department.   If any reservations are cancelled by applicants, the rooms will be available for booking again.   The above arrangement is applicable to helpers who have been fully vaccinated in Group A specified places.   As for helpers who have received full vaccination in Hong Kong, they may undergo compulsory quarantine at a general designated quarantine hotel.   Call 2717 1771 or email the department for enquiries.
